Can I do Pilates?

The Pilates Method is for everyone! The system is based on quality of movement over quantity and there is a program for every age and fitness level. In the studio sessions are taught either one to one or in small groups ensuring that instructors can tailor it suit your individual needs.

How long will it take until I get results?

Your body will change from the inside out through your Pilates workouts! Expect a change in posture, improved strength, range of motion after your first 10 sessions. Joseph said:

“In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference,
in 20 you’ll see the difference,
and in 30 you’ll have a whole new body!”

Consistency is the key to change – the more you practice the better your results will be!

How often can I do Pilates?

You may do Pilates everyday, unlike other exercise forms for strengthening, it does not overuse the muscles to a point where they need to recover. Do Pilates a minimum of 3X a week for best results. The Pilates equipment is the most effect means of promoting change in bodies.

What can I expect from my Pilates session?

Each Pilates session will last approximately one hour. Because Pilates exercise is taught one-on-one or in small groups, instructors can tailor the workout to each individual’s needs – people of all ages, injuries, and fitness levels. An instructor will take you through a series of exercises and movements with an emphasis on your core musculature, which includes abdominals, back, buttocks, arms and legs. All movements promote strength, stability and increase range of motion of the joints. You will not only train your muscles to be stronger and more flexible but will train them to move correctly.

How long is a session?

All sessions are 55 minutes with the exception of the first private or duet lesson which will take 75 minutes.

What should I wear?

You should wear whatever is comfortable for you to work out in, as long as your attire is not too oversized making it difficult for the instructor to observe your body during the workout. You do not need to wear sneakers. Barefoot is acceptable or socks WITH grippers on the bottom. (i.e. yoga socks)

Why shouldn’t I learn Pilates from a streaming service or DVD?

Pilates is about how you move. Each exercise has a precise execution. A video cannot see you and correct your movement like a teacher can!

I have a bad back – can Pilates help?

Pilates may help. You should check with your doctor before beginning Pilates, or any other workout program. Private lessons or specially designed classes to strengthen backs will be your best option.

What is Pilates Equipment?

Joseph Pilates designed a range of equipment to help his students gain greater control over their bodies reformers, cadillacs, chairs, barrels – all are used to help you gain greater flexibility, strength, and body awareness. You can experience the equipment by making a one to one appointment or joining a beginners equipment class.
